Sirius Star in the Quran
The Quran is full of miracles and one of them is the mathematical accuracy in its verses. The star Sirius is a remarkable example of the Quranic mathematical miracles. Sirius is a binary star system composed of Sirius A and Sirius B. These two stars approach each other every 49.9 years in a unique dance.
The Quran mentions Sirius in Surah Najm, in verse 49 where it says, "And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius." Interestingly, in the same chapter, in verse 9, it says, "He was two bow lengths away or even closer." This is a remarkable coincidence because the radius of Sirius is 1.71 times the radius of the Sun. And, the Sun is mentioned in the Quranic chapter 91, while Sirius is mentioned in chapter 53. The ratio between these two numbers, 91 and 53, is approximately 1.71, which is the same as the ratio of the radii of Sirius and the Sun.
Furthermore, the distance between Earth and Sirius is approximately 861 centilite years apart. And, in Surah Najm, the first verse mentions "star," while verse 32 mentions "Earth." Interestingly, there are exactly 86
1 words in between these two words. This is another remarkable coincidence that shows the mathematical accuracy in the Quranic verses.
Indeed, these are just a few examples of the mathematical miracles found in the Quran. As Muslims, we believe that the Quran is the word of Allah and it contains knowledge beyond human understanding. These miracles serve as evidence of the divine origin of the Quran and should inspire us to deepen our understanding of this holy book.
