Pulsar in the Quran
In the Quran, Allah draws our attention to the star of piercing brightness in Surah 86, which is commonly interpreted as referring to the Pulsar. The Pulsar is a highly magnetized rotating neutron star that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation that appear to pulse or flash as they rotate. Scientists have used radio telescopes to collect the signals emitted by pulsars and convert them into an electrical signal, which can be heard as a rhythmic clicking or tapping sound.
The word used in the Quran to describe this star is "Tariq," which means "key who knocks on the door." This closely relates to the scientific discovery of the pulsar itself, as the regular pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the pulsar can be interpreted as "knocking" on the "door" of our perception. This is just one of many examples of how the Quran contains miraculous scientific information that could not have been known at the time of its revelation. As believers, we should reflect on these signs and increase our faith in the infinite wisdom and knowledge of Allah.
