Earth's Roundness in the Quran

 The Quran, a book of divine guidance, is full of wonders and marvels that continue to baffle scientists and intellectuals. One such example is the description of the Earth's roundness, which was mentioned centuries before humans discovered this fact through scientific inquiry.

In chapter 39, verse 5 of the Quran, Allah says, "He wraps the night around the day and wraps the day around the night." The word used for "wrapping" in this verse comes from the same root as the Arabic word "Kura," which means "ball" or "sphere." This implies that the Earth is round and spherical, as it is wrapped around by day and night.

Furthermore, in chapter 79, verse 30, Allah says, "And after that, He spread the Earth." The Arabic word used for "spread" is "daha," which comes from the root word "dahu." This word is used to describe actions for setting out and adjusting spherically. The word can also be used to describe an ostrich making a nest or an egg itself, both of which have a rounded shape. Thus, the Quran describes the Earth's shape as resembling an egg, which is flat and spherically known as the geoid shape.

It is amazing to think that the Quran accurately described the Earth's roundness at a time when many people believed it was flat. This is yet another example of the Quran's timeless wisdom and miraculous nature, which continues to astound people of all ages and backgrounds.
