Atmosphere in the Quran

 The atmosphere is an essential component of the Earth's ecosystem. It is a collection of gases that surround our planet, allowing life to thrive. The Quran mentions this mechanism of the atmosphere in chapter 6 verse 125, where Allah says that whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. This verse describes the effect of hypoxia, which occurs when there is a lack of oxygen in the atmosphere at high altitudes.

As we know, the troposphere is the layer of the atmosphere closest to the Earth's surface, extending up to 10 kilometers above sea level. This is the layer where humans and most animals live, and where weather develops due to the abundance of water vapor. At high altitudes, the oxygen levels decrease, causing altitude sickness or hypoxia. The airline industry has invented pressurized cabins to compensate for the low pressure and low oxygen levels, allowing passengers to breathe easily.

However, there are limits to how high we can go. Mount Everest's highest part, the death zone, is above 8,000 meters, where there is very little oxygen, and the body starts to die cell by cell. This demonstrates the ideal ratio of oxygen that enables us to live comfortably on this planet. We should be grateful to Allah for this perfect balance in the atmosphere, which facilitates our lives on Earth.

In conclusion, the Quran's mention of the mechanism that facilitates life on Earth, which is the atmosphere, is a testament to the depth of knowledge contained in the Quran. It is a reminder to us of the importance of appreciating and preserving the natural world, which Allah has created for us.
